A Merchant Account allows you to accept credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks on your site and have the money deposited directly into your bank account. It is a proven fact that the ability to accept credit cards as a form of payment increases sales from 30% to 50%. To accept credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks on your website, you need an "Internet" Merchant Account and a Secure Payment Gateway in which to process the cards securely. You may also need a shopping cart depending on what program your site is built with. Some, like our uBuilder web design program, come with the shopping cart already installed.
Most merchant accounts are held by brick and mortar businesses that use a credit card scanner or imprinter to charge the customer's card. If you currently operate a business that has a physical location and already have a merchant account, you may or may not be able to upgrade your account to "e-commerce enabled" so you can accept credit cards on your website. Your merchant account provider can tell you. If it can't be upgraded, we can get you set up with one quickly and easily.
It's easy to qualify for an Internet Merchant Account. You must have a checking account with a bank in the U.S.A., and you must have an address in the U.S.A.
The process of getting set up with an Internet Merchant Account sometimes takes 4 weeks or so. However, we can do it much quicker because of agreements we have with our provider. We may be able to get you set up in as little as 2 business days - at a price you can afford! You can have your very own Merchant Processing Account for less than $2 a day.
Your Internet Merchant Account will allow you to accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and electronic checks. You will use a secure gateway software to access your Merchant Account. This software allows you to make changes to your processing any time, anywhere. You can select what credit cards to accept, whether to accept electronic checks, put your account in test mode, and enter transactions, credits, and voids manually using the virtual terminal feature. If you receive orders via mail, fax, phone, or at trade shows you can quickly and easily enter them for processing as long as you have access to a computer. No expensive hardware to buy or maintain!
